Wayne Reid is a seasoned media professional and currently serves as the Executive Director of Alabama Public Television, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career as his first foray into the realm of public media. With a journey spanning over three decades, Wayne has witnessed substantial changes in the broadcasting landscape.

Wayne’s career trajectory saw him excel in various capacities within the world of commercial broadcasting. His most recent role, as the Director of Sales at Sinclair Broadcast Group stations in Birmingham, Alabama, from 2011 to 2023, solidified his reputation as a strategic thinker and a results-driven leader. Under his guidance, WBMA ABC 33/40, CW 21 WTTO, and My 68 WABM thrived as influential media entities, serving the local community with distinction.

Prior to his tenure in Birmingham, Wayne made impactful contributions during his time with Post-Newsweek Stations, where he held the position of General Sales Manager at WJXT (IND) in Jacksonville, Florida, and undertook various roles at WKMG Local 6 CBS in Orlando, Florida. These experiences allowed him to sharpen his expertise in sales, management, and broadcasting operations while contributing to the success of one of the country’s top-rated independent television stations. Wayne’s journey also took him to St. Louis, at KPLR, one of the pioneering WB affiliates in the United States and the broadcast home of the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues.

Wayne’s passion for the media industry ignited during his early days at WHOA 32 (ABC) in Montgomery, where he embarked on his television career from 1991 to 1995. He briefly ventured into radio, gaining valuable experience at KTXY in Jefferson City, Missouri, immediately after completing his college education at Wichita State University. Wayne is a dedicated and engaged member of his community. He currently holds the position of President of the Alabama Educational Television Foundation Authority Board and is a member of the Alabama Broadcasters Association Board and the HEAL United Board of Directors.

Wayne’s commitment extends to his personal life, where he shares a loving partnership of 32 years with his wife, Kelly Reid. Together, they have raised two wonderful children, with son Holden pursuing his education at the University of Central Florida and daughter Grier embarking on her academic journey at Florida State University.
