Susana Schuler joined WVTM 13 the Hearst Television NBC affiliate in Birmingham, Alabama as President / General Manager in January 2019 with 12 years of experience in Alabama and 30 in the broadcast/local media business. Prior to WVTM 13 Susana was EVP of Operations & Content with Raycom Media based in Montgomery, AL. She spent ten years prior to that with Nexstar Broadcasting Group. Susana’s career started on the news side of the business on air and in management as well as corporate positions overseeing news, marketing, programming, and research as well as oversight
of some TV stations in Raycom.

During her tenure in Birmingham, WVTM 13 has been named Station of the Year for the team’s news, weather, and community coverage in 2020. Susana was named Broadcaster of the Year in 2022 both by the Alabama Broadcaster’s Association. Birmingham Business Journal identified Susana as one of the local Women to Watch in 2020. In 2011 the Radio Television Digital News Foundation honored Susana with the First Amendment Leadership Award and in 2002 Broadcasting & Cable named Susana one of the top 10 Women to Watch. Susana serves on boards of Kiwanis of Birmingham, the Community Foodbank of Central Alabama Board and the Alabama Broadcasters Association Board. Susana is a first generation American born to Chilean parents who immigrated to the United States in the early 70s. She grew up in Houston and graduated from Texas Christian University. Susana and her husband have two daughters and three grandchildren.
